Each year, the Summer Beer Festival in Queenstown New Zealand brings together an exciting selection of local and guest breweries from around Queenstown and New Zealand. The soundtrack for the event is an impressive line up of great local live acts. The stunning Queenstown scenery is the perfect backdrop for showcasing New Zealand’s flourishing craft beer and live music scene.

The event is family-friendly and offers a Kid’s Zone and Chill Out area while the adults can enjoy all that’s on offer including craft beer, cider, local wines and food stalls. Live music and entertainment play throughout the afternoon. Local breweries on the line-up include Cargo, Altitude, Ground Up, B Effect, Wanaka Beer Works, Lake & Wood, Sidewinder and the Victoria Store Brewery.  Guest breweries include Garage Project, Tuatara, Panhead, 8 Wired, Renaissance, and Invercargill Brewery.

One of the biggest live music events on the Queenstown calendar is the Gibbston Valley Summer Concert held on the grounds of the famous Gibbston Valley Winery. The 2017 line-up features Bonnie Tyler, Alan Parson Live Project and Australia’s Icehouse.

The Queenstown concert is part of a tour that stops at various locations around New Zealand. Past headliners include Heart, America, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Doobie Brothers, Pat Benatar, 10 cc and Lynyrd Skynyrd. A long afternoon in the sun with good wine and good music. It doesn’t get much better!

Fat Freddy Drop Live in Queenstown

Fat Freddy’s Drop is one of New Zealand’s most popular dub acts with a reputation for an impressive live show. Based in Wellington, the 7-piece act is famous for delighting audiences with their eclectic mix of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues and techno.

A Fat Freddy’s Drop live gig is guaranteed to be unpredictable as the band is renowned for long improvised jam sessions that whip the crowd into a frenzy.

Fat Freddy’s Drop will only play two headline shows this summer and Queenstown is one of them. Make sure you get along to the Queenstown Events Centre show and catch one of New Zealand’s most electrifying live acts.

Children under the age of 12 are free with each full paying adult (one child per ticket).

The Baroque Music Community and Educational Trust of New Zealand is presenting a brilliant concert tour featuring Vivaldi Four Seasons on period instruments with international guests. This is an exciting opportunity for South Island audiences to experience for the first time, the beautiful, well-known music of Vivaldi in acoustically suited venues.

The soloist for the evening will be Szabolcs Illes, a foremost European Baroque violinist from Hungary. Since 2008, Illes has been a concertmaster of the Hof-Musici orchestra, which is primarily working on the reconstruction and presentation of baroque operas with authentic instruments, costumes and original settings.

Skycity Queenstown Gibbston Wine and Food Festival

While not strictly a music event, the annual Gibbston Wine and Food Festival is one of the best days out on the summer calendar and features an impressive line-up of local wineries and musicians. The festival takes over the Queenstown Gardens for one weekend in March and is your chance to taste Gibbston’s award-winning wines and local food producers, as well as get along to a wine or food master classes.

Wineries joining the line up represent the best the region has to offer including Brennan Wines, Chard Farm, Gibbston Valley Winery, Hawkshead Vineyard, Kalex Winery, Mt Rosa Vineyard, Remarkable Wines, Valli Vineyards.

A family-friendly event, the festival features live music from the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra and a large selection of local solo and duo artists. Queenstown Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece jazz ensemble that plays a wide range of big band style tunes that will set the perfect scene for a sunny afternoon of wine and food
