If you are looking for an exciting day out, then we highly recommend packing a picnic and heading over to the Queenstown Events Centre for the highly anticipated 3rd T20 cricket showdown between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Our small town becomes the hub of the cricket world for one day - so pack some black clothes (in support of NZ) and come and support the team!  

Transport from Spinnaker Bay Apartments to Frankton can be organised by our fantastic team at reception.  You can take a bus, taxi, cycle or drive!

This game is one in a series while Sri Lanka tours New Zealand - with 2 x 5-day tests, 3 x T20 maths and 3 x One Day Internationals.

About T20 Cricket

T20 cricket is a form of cricket that has become increasingly popular in recent years. History of NZ vs Sri Lanka in T20 Cricket

New Zealand and Sri Lanka have played numerous T20 cricket matches against each other since the format's inception in 2005. Here is a brief history of their T20 encounters:

• The first T20 match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was played on December 22, 2006, in Wellington, New Zealand. Sri Lanka won the game by 18 runs.
• Since then, the two teams have faced each other in T20 cricket on 20 occasions. Of those, New Zealand has won 11 matches, while Sri Lanka has won 9.
• The most memorable T20 encounter between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was the ICC World Twenty20 final in 2014. The match was played on April 6, 2014, in Mirpur, Bangladesh. Sri Lanka won the game by six wickets and became the T20 world champion for the first time.
• In 2019, New Zealand toured Sri Lanka for a T20 series. Sri Lanka won the three-match series 2-1.
• The highest team total between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in T20 cricket is 214/6, scored by New Zealand in 2019. Sri Lanka's highest team total against New Zealand in T20 cricket is 215/5, achieved in 2013.
• The highest individual score in T20 matches between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is 109 not out, scored by Colin Munro in 2018. The best bowling figures in a T20 game between the two teams are 5/18 by Tim Southee for New Zealand in 2016.
• Overall, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have had a competitive T20 history, with both teams having their fair share of victories.
