Winter Pride Queenstown 2019
‘Winter Pride is a festival in a small town with a bold heart that celebrates love, community, diversity, visibility and inclusion. It is a festival that encourages locals and visitors alike to unite and celebrate their diversity.’ - www.winterpride.co.nz
Dates: Friday 30th August – Sunday 8th September
It all started with ‘Gay Ski Week QT’ back in 2012, an event created to celebrate diversity in all its forms. Over the last 7 years, we have watched it grow and evolve, becoming the largest gay pride festival in the Southern Hemisphere, ‘with more partners, pomp and parties than ever before.
On The Mountain
Continuing to evolve, the 2019 festivities are now categorised by being ‘on’ or ‘off’ mountain. There has been a solid growth of ‘on mountain’ activities including 4 full day events at Cardrona Alpine Resort, 3 at The Remarks and 1 at CP. From ‘Race Your Mate’ to ‘onesies and Pride Ski Flag Parades’, there will be all day snow based activities every day of the week!
Added to this, the partner mountains are allocating dedicated hosting areas for Winter Pride which will create a more intimate festival vibe with music and access to the restaurant and bar for socialising, networking and having a whole heap of fun!
We have also heard that his year there will be Pride volunteers taking skiers and boarders around the mountain as a guided group, sharing the love and passion of all things snow and winter Pride!
Off The Mountain
The 'off' the mountain scheduled looks super fun this year. Its jam-packed with amazing events to see, do and experience! Hugely popular over the last few years, the Durex Pride Party Series will be returning with great Australasian DJs and dance parties (themed and non themed). To refresh, there are a few mountain walks scheduled so you can ‘stop and absorb’ the truly beautiful surroundings (and maybe find a little balance after all that partying!). And lets not forget the adventure activities that are designed to thrill and challenge you - this year Winter Pride has some great deals with local operators for a fun and action packed week!
‘The festival is the perfect week for people to show their true selves in an accepting, supportive and fun community’
